Frigo is a Spanish ice cream brand founded in 1927 in Barcelona under the name Industrias Frigoríficas de Alimentación. It was the first Spanish company to produce ice cream industrially and later expanded throughout Spain as Productos Frigo. In 1973, Unilever became the largest shareholder of Frigo, and in 1998, Frigo adopted the unified Heartbrand corporate image, featuring a heart as its logo. In 2008, Unilever closed the Frigo factory in Barcelona, and the brand was sold to the Catalan company Farga, producer of Farggi ice cream. Today, Frigo continues to offer a variety of ice cream products under the Unilever umbrella.
