Cruzcampo is one of Spain's most iconic and widely consumed beer brands, particularly dominant in the southern region of Andalusia. Founded in Seville in 1904 by the Osborne family, the brand was named after the 'La Cruz del Campo' (The Cross of the Field), a local monument.
Over its century-long history, the brand has grown from a local brewery to a national leader in the pilsner category. Ownership has shifted through major international acquisitions; it was first bought by Guinness in 1991, which later became part of Diageo. Following a strategic divestment, the brand was acquired by the Dutch brewing giant Heineken N.V. in 2000.
Today, Cruzcampo remains deeply tied to its Spanish roots, with major production facilities located in Seville, Madrid, Jaén, and Valencia. While it is part of Heineken's international portfolio, its identity remains firmly Spanish, celebrated for its refreshingly cold serving temperature and its mascot 'Gambrinus', who appears on the label holding a glass of beer.
