Wodka Gorbatschow is one of Germany's most iconic spirits brands, having originated in Berlin in 1921. It was founded by Leo Gorbatschow after he fled the Russian Revolution and established a distillery in the German capital. Known for its distinct bottle shape and triple cold filtration process, the brand became a staple of the German vodka market, eventually using the famous slogan 'Des Wodkas reine Seele' (Vodka's pure soul).
Since 1960, the brand has been under the ownership of Henkell & Co. (now Henkell Freixenet), which helped scale its distribution. Over the decades, it has maintained its position as the market leader for vodka in Germany. While the original recipe was Russian in heritage, the product is and has always been a German-manufactured spirit, produced primarily in Berlin and Wiesbaden. Today, it is part of the extensive international portfolio of the Oetker Group, ensuring its global reach while preserving its Berlin roots.
