Solis is a household name in Spain, primarily known for its 'Tomate Frito,' a traditional Spanish fried tomato sauce. The brand was originally launched by the Spanish company Industrias de Alimentación Solís, which began its journey in the mid-20th century.
Today, Solis products are manufactured at the Miajadas factory in Cáceres, Spain. This facility is recognized as the first tomato processing plant in Europe to receive gold certification for sustainable water management. The production process emphasizes local sourcing, typically using 100% sustainable tomatoes grown in the Vegas del Guadiana region.
Since 1985, the brand has been under the ownership of Nestlé, the world's largest food and beverage company. Following Nestlé's acquisition of many regional brands to expand its European portfolio, Solis has continued to maintain its strong Spanish identity while benefiting from the global distribution and sustainability standards of the Swiss multinational.
