Oral-B is a globally recognized brand in the oral hygiene sector, most famous for its toothbrushes and dental floss. The brand was founded in 1950 by Dr. Robert W. Hutson in California, USA, who designed and patented the first Oral-B toothbrush. Over the decades, it expanded its product line to include toothpastes, mouthwashes, and power toothbrushes.
Manufacturing for Oral-B toothpaste occurs in several locations worldwide to serve different regional markets. In Europe, production often takes place in Germany, while other regions are supplied by facilities in the United States, China, and Latin America.
Ownership of the brand changed hands when it was acquired by Gillette in 1984. Gillette was subsequently acquired by Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 2005. Today, Oral-B is a key brand within P&G's global consumer health and oral care portfolio, benefiting from the conglomerate's extensive R&D and distribution network.
