Yonex Co., Ltd. is a Japanese sports equipment manufacturing company founded in 1946 by Minoru Yoneyama as Yoneyama Company, Ltd. Initially producing wooden floats for fishing nets, the company shifted focus to sports equipment after technological advancements rendered their original products obsolete. In 1957, Yonex began manufacturing badminton racquets for other brands, and by 1961, it introduced its own line of racquets. The company expanded into tennis in 1969 and golf in the 1970s, becoming a leading brand in these sports. Yonex is known for its commitment to innovation, exemplified by the development of the 'T-Joint' in 1968, which led to Japan's first aluminum badminton racquet. The company has a global presence with subsidiaries in multiple countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Taiwan, China, India, and Thailand. As of March 2024, Yonex employed 2,633 people.
