Cosmic Crisp Apple

The Cosmic Crisp is a premium apple variety, known scientifically as WA 38, which was developed by the Washington State University (WSU) fruit breeding program. It is a cross between the 'Honeycrisp' and 'Enterprise' varieties, designed for its crisp texture, high sugar content, and exceptional shelf life. The brand and product were officially launched to the consumer market in 2019.

While the intellectual property is owned by Washington State University, the apples are grown by a vast network of licensed growers. For the first ten years of its commercial life, planting was restricted exclusively to farmers in Washington State, making it a signature product of the Pacific Northwest. The marketing and global brand management are handled through PVM (Proprietary Variety Management), which ensures quality standards and brand consistency across all distributors.
