Stork is a margarine brand introduced in the United Kingdom in 1920 by Van den Berghs & Jurgens, a company that later became part of Unilever. The brand has been a staple in British kitchens, particularly for baking purposes. In 2018, Unilever sold its margarine business, including Stork, to Upfield, a company specializing in plant-based nutrition and owned by the private equity firm KKR & Co. Inc. In southern Africa, the rights to the Stork brand are held by Siqalo Foods, a subsidiary of the South African investment group Remgro. This arrangement allows Stork to maintain its presence in various markets under different ownership structures.
