Åhléns is a prominent Swedish department store chain founded in 1899 by Johan Petter Åhlén and Erik Holm in Insjön, Dalarna County. Initially established as a mail-order business, it expanded into a retail operation, becoming one of Sweden's leading department stores. Over the years, Åhléns has diversified its offerings to include fashion, beauty products, home furnishings, and media. In June 2022, Åhléns was acquired by Axcent of Scandinavia AB, a Swedish retail company led by Ayad Al-Saffar. This acquisition marked a new chapter for Åhléns, aiming to modernize and refine its brand identity while maintaining its Swedish heritage. The company continues to operate numerous stores across Sweden, providing a wide range of products to its customers.
