Rieker is a historic footwear brand that originated in Tuttlingen, Germany, in 1874. Founded by Heinrich Rieker and Carl Seitz, the company initially catered to affluent customers in Northern Italy before expanding its reach across Europe. For over 150 years, the brand has remained under the management of the Rieker family, now spanning five to six generations of ownership. This continuity has allowed the company to maintain a strong focus on its proprietary 'Antistress' technology, which prioritizes lightweight construction, shock absorption, and flexibility.

While the brand's heritage is German, the company moved its corporate headquarters to Thayngen, Switzerland, in the 1970s. This move coincided with a strategic shift in production; while Rieker manufactures approximately 95% of its own products to ensure quality control, its manufacturing facilities are strategically located in countries such as Morocco, Slovakia, Tunisia, and Vietnam. Today, Rieker and its sister brand, Remonte, operate as a global entity, distributing shoes and accessories to thousands of independent retailers worldwide.
