Dolmio is a leading global brand of Italian-style pasta sauces and ready meals, primarily recognized for its jarred sauces and the iconic 'Dolmio Family' puppet advertisements. Despite its strong branding centered on Italian culinary traditions, the brand actually originated in Australia in 1985 under the name 'Alora'. It was created by Masterfoods (a division of Mars) to offer convenient, home-style spaghetti bolognese options.

Following a successful test launch in Scotland, the product was rebranded as Dolmio in 1986 for the United Kingdom market and eventually rolled out globally by 1989. Today, Dolmio is manufactured in multiple locations to serve its primary markets; this includes facilities in Australia (such as New South Wales), the United Kingdom (King's Lynn), and the Netherlands. The brand remains a dominant player in the shelf-stable sauce category across Europe and Oceania, continuing its long-standing ownership under the American multinational Mars, Incorporated.
