Simplenote

Simplenote is a note-taking application that was originally developed by Simperium in 2008. It gained popularity for its simplicity and efficient syncing capabilities across multiple platforms. In January 2013, Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, acquired Simperium to integrate its advanced syncing technology into Automattic's mobile applications. Following the acquisition, Automattic made Simplenote's client apps open-source in August 2016, allowing developers to contribute to its development and ensuring its continued improvement. As of 2025, Simplenote remains a free, open-source application, offering users a streamlined and efficient note-taking experience across various devices and platforms.
