Bacardi Rum

Founded in Santiago de Cuba in 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, Bacardí revolutionized the spirits industry by creating the first clear, light-bodied rum. The brand's early history is defined by the iconic fruit bat logo, chosen as a symbol of good luck and family unity, and the 'El Coco' palm tree, which symbolized the company's resilience through earthquakes and fires. Following the illegal confiscation of its Cuban assets by the revolutionary government in 1960, the family was forced into exile.

Today, Bacardi Limited is the largest privately held, family-owned spirits company in the world. While its ancestral home is Cuba, the brand's global headquarters are now located in Hamilton, Bermuda. The majority of its rum production takes place at 'Casa Bacardí' in Cataño, Puerto Rico, which is known as the 'Cathedral of Rum' and stands as the largest premium rum distillery in the world. The company has evolved from a single rum brand into a global drinks powerhouse, owning a Diverse portfolio of over 200 brands and labels.
