Sebago is an American footwear brand founded in 1946 by Daniel J. Wellehan Sr., William Beaudoin, and Joseph Cordeau in Westbrook, Maine. The brand initially gained recognition for its hand-sewn penny loafers, inspired by the traditional Indian moccasin, and later introduced the iconic Docksides boat shoes in 1970. Over the years, Sebago expanded its product line to include various styles of casual and dress shoes. In 2003, Sebago was acquired by Wolverine World Wide, an American footwear company. In 2017, the Italian company BasicNet S.p.A. acquired Sebago from Wolverine World Wide. Today, Sebago's products are manufactured in multiple countries, including the Dominican Republic, where production is concentrated to maintain high-quality standards. The brand continues to offer a range of footwear, including its classic Docksides boat shoes, which have become synonymous with New England heritage and maritime style.
