Tylenol is a brand of over-the-counter pain relievers and fever reducers, primarily containing acetaminophen. The brand was originally developed by McNeil Laboratories, which was founded in 1879 by Robert McNeil in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1959, McNeil Laboratories was acquired by Johnson & Johnson, a multinational corporation headquartered in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In 2023, Johnson & Johnson spun off its consumer health division, including the Tylenol brand, into a new company named Kenvue. Kenvue is headquartered in the United States and continues to market Tylenol products globally. Manufacturing of Tylenol products occurs in multiple countries to meet global demand.
