Absolut Vodka is one of the world's most iconic spirits, renowned for its commitment to the 'One Source' philosophy. This means every drop of water and every seed of winter wheat used in production comes from the area surrounding the village of Åhus in southern Sweden. The brand follows a tradition of continuous distillation first introduced by Lars Olsson Smith in 1879, whose portrait still adorns every bottle.
While the brand holds deep Swedish roots, it transitioned from Swedish state ownership (V&S Group) to international hands in 2008. Since then, it has been owned by the French spirits giant Pernod Ricard. Despite this global ownership, production remains strictly localized in Åhus, maintaining the brand's heritage and ensuring consistent quality for its global consumer base.
