Philadelphia Original Cream Cheese

Philadelphia Cream Cheese, despite its name, was invented in Chester, New York, in 1872 by William Lawrence, a dairyman who accidentally created a richer, more spreadable cheese by adding excessive cream to Neufchâtel. The product was marketed as 'Philadelphia' starting in 1880, capitalizing on the city's reputation for high-quality dairy products. In 1928, the Phenix Cheese Company, which had acquired the Philadelphia trademark, merged with Kraft to form the Kraft-Phenix Cheese Company. Today, Philadelphia Cream Cheese is owned by Kraft Heinz, a leading global food company headquartered in the United States. The product is manufactured in multiple countries to meet global demand.
