Erdinger Weissbier

Erdinger Weissbier is a quintessential Bavarian wheat beer with a heritage dating back to 1886. Founded by Johann Kienle in Erding, Bavaria, the brewery underwent several ownership changes before being acquired in 1935 by Franz Brombach, who renamed it Erdinger Weißbräu in 1949. His son, Werner Brombach, took over in 1975 and grew the brand into the world's largest wheat beer brewery.

Unlike many global beverage giants that utilize localized licensing agreements, Erdinger maintains a strictly centralized production model. Every drop of Erdinger beer distributed internationally is brewed exclusively at the original brewery in Erding, Germany, adhering to the Bavarian Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot). In June 2024, to ensure the long-term independence of the family business, Werner Brombach transferred his shares to the non-profit Werner Brombach Family Foundation, which serves as the ultimate owner to safeguard the brand's private, traditional status into the future.
