Aalborg Taffel Akvavit, often referred to as 'Rød Aalborg', is a cornerstone of Danish drinking culture. Originally launched in 1846 by Isidor Henius, it was produced for over 150 years in Aalborg, Denmark, by De Danske Spritfabrikker. This classic spirit is known for its clear appearance and strong caraway flavor, making it a staple at traditional Danish lunches.

In 2012, the brand was acquired by the Norwegian company Arcus, which later merged with Finnish Altia to form Anora Group. This acquisition led to the controversial closure of the original Aalborg distillery in 2015. Consequently, while the brand maintains its historical Danish identity and recipe, production has moved to Hoff in Norway. Today, it stands as a premium Scandinavian spirit owned by a major Nordic beverage conglomerate.
