Lipton Raspberry Ice Tea is a globally recognized beverage known for its blend of tea extract and fruit flavoring. The brand’s heritage dates back to the late 19th century in Scotland when Sir Thomas Lipton established his tea empire with the goal of making tea accessible to everyone. Over the decades, Lipton evolved from a traditional tea leaf provider into a major player in the ready-to-drink beverage market.
The brand has a complex ownership history involving multinational giants. For many years, it was a centerpiece of the Unilever portfolio. However, in 2022, Unilever sold most of its tea business, including Lipton, to CVC Capital Partners, forming a new entity now known as Liptea (formerly Ekaterra). The ready-to-drink (bottled and canned) version of Lipton, as seen in the image, is managed through a long-standing joint venture between Unilever/Liptea and PepsiCo, known as the Pepsi Lipton Tea Partnership. Manufacturing typically occurs in regional bottling facilities across Europe, North America, and Asia to serve local markets efficiently.
