Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º 2017 is a distinguished red wine from the Ribera del Duero region in Spain. Produced by Bodegas Vega Sicilia S.A., a subsidiary of El Enebro Sociedad Anónima, this wine is crafted from a blend of 94% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 6% Merlot grapes. The 2017 vintage was particularly challenging due to frosts and drought conditions, leading to a quick and early harvest. The wine underwent a maturation process of almost three years in a combination of new and used French and American oak barrels, as well as 21,000-liter oak vats. The result is a harmonious and expressive wine, with aromas of blackberries, violets, and sandalwood, complemented by vanilla undertones. With an alcohol content of 14.5%, it is suitable for drinking now and can be cellared for up to 25 years if stored under optimal conditions. The recommended serving temperature is 18°C (64°F).
