Heinz Beanz is one of the most iconic food products in the United Kingdom, recognized by its distinct turquoise label and the 'Beanz Meanz Heinz' slogan. Although the brand has American roots, the version of baked beans sold in the UK was specifically adapted for British tastes and has been produced locally for nearly a century. Specifically, the majority of Heinz Beanz sold in Europe are produced at the Kitt Green factory in Wigan, which is the largest food processing plant in Europe and produces millions of cans every day.
Ownership of the brand has evolved over time. Originally founded by Henry J. Heinz in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the company grew into a global powerhouse. In 2013, the company was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital, leading to a merger with Kraft Foods in 2015 to form the Kraft Heinz Company. Today, Kraft Heinz remains the ultimate owner, managing the brand from its dual headquarters in the United States while maintaining significant manufacturing and R&D operations in the UK to serve the British market.
