Blue Band margarine

Blue Band is a globally recognized brand specializing in margarines and spreads, particularly popular across Africa, Southeast Asia, and parts of Europe. It was originally launched by the Dutch margarinier Van den Bergh in 1923 and subsequently became a flagship brand under the Unilever portfolio for several decades. The brand is known for its fortification with vitamins and its history in household baking and cooking.

In 2018, as part of a strategic shift, Unilever sold its global spreads business to KKR, a private equity firm. This business now operates under the name Upfield. Today, Upfield is the ultimate owner of the brand, managing its production through various regional hubs. Manufacturing occurs in multiple locations across the globe, including significant production facilities in Indonesia, Kenya, and Nigeria to serve local markets.
