Brand Origin and Manufacturing

The Logitech Harmony line of universal remote controls was originally developed by Easy Zapper, a Canadian company based in Mississauga, Ontario. Founded in 2001, Easy Zapper introduced the Harmony remote in November of that year, aiming to simplify the control of home entertainment systems. In May 2004, Logitech, a Swiss-American multinational company renowned for its computer peripherals and software, acquired Easy Zapper for US$29 million, thereby integrating the Harmony brand into its portfolio. Following the acquisition, Logitech continued to innovate and expand the Harmony product line, introducing various models designed to control a wide array of home entertainment devices.

Product Line and Features

The Harmony remotes are designed to replace multiple remote controls, offering compatibility with a vast number of devices from numerous brands. Key features include:

  • One-Touch Activity Controls: Allows users to initiate multiple devices with a single button press, streamlining the user experience.

  • Full-Color Touchscreens: Provides intuitive navigation and control over devices and activities.

  • Smart State Technology: Keeps track of the power status and input settings of connected devices, ensuring seamless operation.

  • Broad Compatibility: Supports over 270,000 devices from more than 6,000 brands, accommodating a wide range of home entertainment equipment.

Ownership and Current Status

As of 2025, Logitech has discontinued the manufacturing of Harmony remotes, with support for older models ending on May 28, 2025. However, models compatible with the newer MyHarmony app continue to receive support. Logitech International SA, headquartered in Switzerland, remains the ultimate owner of the Harmony brand, overseeing its development and distribution. There are no known subsidiaries or local distributors associated with the Harmony brand.
