Tuborg Classic is a dark pilsner beer that has become a staple of Danish brewing culture. Originally introduced in 1993 to celebrate Tuborg's 120th anniversary, it was the first beer of its kind in Denmark to be marketed as a 'classic' variety. It is known for its full-bodied taste, reddish-brown color, and a blend of different malts.
The Tuborg brand was founded in Hellerup, a suburb of Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1873 by Carl Frederik Tietgen. In 1970, Tuborg merged with its largest rival, United Breweries (Carlsberg), forming a major global brewing entity. Today, Tuborg is one of the leading international brands within the Carlsberg Group portfolio, enjoyed in over 70 countries worldwide. While it remains a deeply Danish brand, production occurs in various countries where the Carlsberg Group operates breweries, though the specific 'Classic' variant remains most prominent in Northern Europe.
