Rama is one of Germany’s most iconic margarine and spread brands, originally launched in 1924 under the name 'Rahma' (the 'h' was later removed to avoid confusion with cream products). The brand's identity is centered around the famous 'Rama girl' named Jule, who has been a central part of its logo for a century.
Historically, Rama was a flagship brand of the Anglo-Dutch multinational Unilever. However, in 2018, Unilever sold its entire spreads division to the private equity firm KKR. This sale led to the formation of Upfield (recently rebranded to Flora Food Group in some contexts), which now operates as the world's leading plant-based spreads company.
Today, Rama is produced across several manufacturing sites throughout Europe to serve regional markets. While the brand has deep German roots and remains headquartered in Amsterdam under its parent company, its production is distributed across multiple countries to ensure freshness and regional availability.
