HOKA (formerly Hoka One One) is a globally recognized athletic brand specifically known for its oversized outsoles and maximalist cushioning. The brand was founded in Annecy, France, by Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud, who aimed to design a shoe that allowed for faster downhill running. Their unique design, which contrasted with the minimalist trend of the time, gained rapid popularity among ultramarathoners and later entered the mainstream fitness market.
In 2013, the brand was acquired by the American corporation Deckers Brands. Under Deckers' leadership, HOKA has expanded its product line to include everyday road running, trail hiking, and lifestyle footwear. While the brand has French origins and is currently headquartered in the United States, its manufacturing is primarily outsourced to major production hubs in Southeast Asia, with Vietnam serving as its largest manufacturing base to ensure high-performance quality and global distribution efficiency.
