UHU stic is a world-renowned adhesive product that revolutionized the stationery market when it was first introduced in 1969 as the first glue stick of its kind. The brand itself traces its origins back to 1932 in Germany, when pharmacist August Fischer developed the first ready-to-use transparent resin adhesive. The name 'UHU' refers to the eagle owl, following a naming convention for office supplies in Germany at that time which often featured birds.
Today, UHU is a prominent global player in the adhesives market. The products are primarily manufactured in Germany, maintaining a reputation for high-quality engineering and safety standards, particularly for solvent-free school supplies. Since 1994, UHU has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bolton Group, an international conglomerate based in Italy. This ownership has allowed UHU to expand its distribution significantly while maintaining its German heritage and production roots.
