Maille Dijon Originale Traditional Dijon Mustard

Maille is one of France's most prestigious and historic brands, with roots dating back to 1723 when the family began producing aromatic vinegars in Marseille. The brand was formally established in 1747 by Antoine-Claude Maille, who opened a boutique in Paris and quickly became the official supplier to the courts of European royalty, including King Louis XV of France and Empress Catherine II of Russia. For centuries, the brand has been synonymous with the 'gold standard' of Dijon mustard.

While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in Dijon, France—where its flagship boutique has welcomed food lovers since 1845—manufacturing occurs in multiple locations to serve global markets. Most European supply, including the traditional Dijon Originale, is produced at the Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur plant in the Burgundy region of France. However, variations in production exist: Maille mustard sold in the United States is often manufactured in Canada, whereas products for the Canadian market and various international exports typically come directly from the French facilities.

Since 2000, Maille has been owned by the multinational consumer goods giant Unilever. Despite its corporate ownership, Maille maintains its artisanal identity through specialized Maison Maille shops and continues to use traditional techniques to produce its iconic sharp and creamy condiments.
