Prince is a prominent brand of cigarettes that was originally introduced in Denmark in 1957. It was created by the Chr. Augustine's Fabrikker, which eventually merged with other Danish tobacco entities into the House of Prince. The brand became a staple in the Scandinavian market, particularly in Denmark and Norway, characterized by its distinct blends.
Over several decades, the ownership of the brand transitioned as the global tobacco industry consolidated. In 2008, British American Tobacco (BAT) acquired the Scandinavian Tobacco Group's cigarette business, which included the Prince brand. Today, Prince is part of BAT's international portfolio.
Manufacturing for the Norwegian and Scandinavian markets is primarily managed through BAT's global supply chain, with production facilities located in various countries. The packaging shown features the standardized plain packaging used in Norway to comply with health regulations, including the Norwegian health warning 'Røyking dreper' (Smoking kills).
