Mustang Jeans is a German brand specializing in jeans and lifestyle apparel. Founded on May 2, 1932, by Luise Hermann as L. Hermann Kleiderfabrik in Künzelsau, Germany, the company initially produced work clothing and supplied the Wehrmacht and Reichsarbeitsdienst with drill suits. In 1948, the company began producing jeans, becoming one of the first European manufacturers to do so. The brand name 'Mustang' was introduced in 1958, inspired by the American way of life, and stylized horses were chosen as the logo. Over the years, Mustang expanded its product range to include jackets and tops, and established subsidiaries in various European countries. In 2011, the Sefranek family sold a majority stake in the company to a group of investors led by ACapital Beteiligungsberatung GmbH, a private equity firm based in Frankfurt, Germany. The company operates globally, with manufacturing primarily in China and other Far Eastern countries, while design, pattern making, and washing departments remain in Germany. The brand is known for its high-quality denim products and has a significant presence in the European market.
