Bulleit Bourbon is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey known for its high rye content, which imparts a bold, spicy character. The brand was originally established by Augustus Bulleit in the 1830s. In 1997, Seagram acquired the Bulleit brand, and in 2001, Diageo, a British multinational alcoholic beverages company, acquired various Seagram's assets, including Bulleit. The Bulleit Distilling Company, now a subsidiary of Diageo, produces the bourbon in Shelbyville and Lebanon, Kentucky. The current recipe follows the original mash bill, which used two-thirds corn and one-third rye. As implemented today, Bulleit Bourbon is 68% corn, 28% rye, and 4% malted barley. The bourbon is aged at least six years and bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof).
