Jeep is an American automobile brand known for its sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and off-road vehicles. The brand's origins trace back to Willys-Overland Motors, which filed the original trademark application for the 'Jeep' brand name in February 1943. Over the years, Jeep has undergone several ownership changes: it was acquired by Kaiser Motors in 1953, then by American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1970, and subsequently by Chrysler in 1987. In 2021, Chrysler merged with the PSA Group to form Stellantis N.V., the current owner of the Jeep brand. As of 2025, Stellantis continues to manufacture and market Jeep vehicles worldwide.
