Budweiser Budvar Original Czech Lager is a premium pale lager brewed by the state-owned Budějovický Budvar Brewery in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. The brewery has been producing this beer since 1895, using traditional methods and high-quality local ingredients, including whole-cone Saaz hops from Žatec, Moravian malting barley, and pure artesian water from an Ice Age aquifer. The beer is matured for a minimum of 90 days, resulting in a rich, full-flavored lager with a deep golden color and aromatic, hoppy foam. The brewery is known for its commitment to quality and tradition, and its beers are recognized with Protected Geographical Indication status by the European Union. Despite the name similarity, Budweiser Budvar is not related to the American Budweiser brand owned by Anheuser-Busch; the two have been engaged in trademark disputes over the Budweiser name for over a century. In the United States, Budweiser Budvar is marketed under the name Czechvar due to these trademark issues. The brewery remains independently owned by the Czech state and continues to produce its beers in České Budějovice, maintaining its heritage and traditional brewing practices.
