Löwenbräu Beer

Löwenbräu is one of the world's most historic and iconic beer brands, with roots tracing back to a Munich brewpub called the 'Lion's Den' as early as 1383. Its formal name first appeared in city records in 1746. Throughout the 19th century, under the leadership of the Brey family, it grew to become Munich's largest brewery and a central part of the city's brewing heritage. The brand is famously one of the 'Munich Six' breweries authorized to serve beer at the world-renowned Oktoberfest.

In the modern era, the brand underwent significant consolidation. In 1997, Löwenbräu merged with Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu to form the Spaten-Löwenbräu-Gruppe. This group was subsequently acquired in 2004 by the Belgian brewing giant Interbrew, which later merged to become Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev). Today, while the core production remains in Munich to maintain its protected designation, the brand is part of AB InBev's massive global portfolio and is produced or distributed under license in various international markets.
