Font Vella is an iconic Spanish brand of natural mineral water, deeply rooted in the history of the Montseny region. The brand's origin dates back to the late 19th century when the therapeutic properties of the Sacalm source in Sant Hilari Sacalm, Girona, were first recognized. Officially declared a medicinal mineral water in 1917, it quickly became a staple in Spanish households, known for its low mineral content and suitability for infants.
The water is exclusively sourced and bottled in Spain from two protected natural springs: the Sacalm spring in the Montseny-Guilleries Massif (Girona) and the Sigüenza spring in the Barranco del Río Dulce Natural Park (Guadalajara). These locations ensure the preservation of the water's unique mineral composition through natural filtration.
Since 1974, Font Vella has been part of the Danone Group's portfolio. Today, it is managed by Aguas Danone, S.A., a subsidiary of the French multinational Danone. As one of Spain's leading water brands, it continues to focus on sustainability initiatives, including the use of recycled plastic in its packaging and the protection of biodiversity at its natural sources.
