Alpro is a Belgian company founded in 1980 by Vandemoortele Groep, specializing in plant-based food and drink products made from soy, almonds, hazelnuts, cashew, rice, oats, and coconut. In June 2009, Alpro was acquired by the American company Dean Foods for approximately $455 million. In 2013, Dean Foods spun off WhiteWave Foods, which managed Alpro, as an independent company. In July 2016, the French company Danone acquired WhiteWave Foods for $10.4 billion, completing the acquisition in April 2017. As a result, Alpro became part of Danone, a French multinational food-products corporation. Alpro's products are manufactured in multiple countries, including Belgium, France, and the United Kingdom. The brand is known for its plant-based beverages and dairy alternatives, such as soy milk, yogurt, and desserts. Alpro's No Sugars oat milk won the Lausanne Index Prize – Supreme Award in 2020.
