JBL is a legendary American audio brand originally founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing in Los Angeles, California. The brand built its reputation on high-fidelity loudspeakers for both professional movie theaters and home consumers. Over the decades, it became a pioneer in sound technology, famously powering iconic cultural events such as the Woodstock festival.

Today, JBL is a subsidiary of Harman International Industries, which was acquired by the South Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics in 2017. While the brand maintains its engineering and design headquarters in the United States, its manufacturing is highly globalized. High-volume consumer products like portable Bluetooth speakers (Flip, Charge series) and headphones are primarily manufactured in China and Vietnam. Professional-grade equipment and automotive components are produced across a network of facilities in Mexico, Hungary, and China, with some specialized R&D and assembly still occurring in the United States.
