Massimago is an Italian winery located in the Veneto region, known for producing high-quality wines, particularly from the Garganega grape variety. Their Garganega Milleduecento I.G.T. Verona is a distinctive wine that showcases the unique characteristics of the Garganega grape. The wine is made from 100% Garganega grapes, cultivated using the Veronese Pergola system, which is traditional in the region. The vineyard is situated at elevations ranging from 150 to 300 meters above sea level, with an east-west orientation, providing optimal sunlight exposure. The soil composition includes layers of limestone, marl, and clay, contributing to the wine's mineral complexity. The cultivation is organic, emphasizing sustainable practices. The winemaking process involves a green harvest in late July, followed by hand harvesting at the end of September. The grapes undergo a gentle drying process on the vine for a month, concentrating their flavors. After vinification, malolactic fermentation occurs in French oak barrels for five months, imparting subtle oak nuances to the wine. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks before bottling. The resulting wine is pale yellow with green reflections, offering aromas of citrus, reminiscent of grapefruit and green apples. On the palate, it is crisp and clean, with a harmonious balance of fruitiness and minerality, and a lingering finish. The alcohol content is 12.5% by volume, with residual sugar at 1.2 g/l and acidity at 8.4 g/l. This wine pairs well with seafood dishes, light pasta, and creamy risottos. Massimago's Garganega Milleduecento I.G.T. Verona exemplifies the winery's commitment to quality and tradition, offering a refined expression of the Garganega grape.
