Sabra is the leading manufacturer of Mediterranean-style dips in North America, most famous for its variety of hummus and guacamole. The brand was founded in 1986 in Queens, New York, originally under the name Sabra-Blue & White Foods. It is widely credited with bringing hummus into the American mainstream through aggressive marketing and strategic expansion.

Today, Sabra Dipping Company, LLC operates as a prominent joint venture between two global food giants. In 2005, the brand was acquired by the Strauss Group, an Israeli international food company. In 2008, PepsiCo entered into a 50/50 joint venture partnership with Strauss, combining PepsiCo's extensive distribution network (via Frito-Lay) with Strauss's expertise in fresh food technology.

Manufacturing primarily takes place at Sabra's specialized facility in Chesterfield County, Virginia, which is among the largest hummus manufacturing plants in the world. While the hummus is produced in the United States using chickpeas sourced from the Pacific Northwest, the brand's guacamole line is produced in Mexico to take advantage of local avocado sourcing.
