Sabra Hummus is a leading brand of Middle Eastern-style dips and spreads, primarily known for its hummus products. The company was founded in 1986 as Sabra-Blue & White Foods by Zohar Norman and Yehuda Pearl. In 2005, Israeli food manufacturer Strauss Group acquired a majority stake in Sabra. In 2008, Strauss Group and PepsiCo formed a 50/50 joint venture, combining their interests in Sabra and Obela, a brand for markets outside North America. In November 2024, PepsiCo acquired the remaining 50% stake in Sabra and Obela from Strauss Group for approximately $244 million, making Sabra a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo. Sabra's manufacturing facility in Chesterfield County, Virginia, is the world's largest producer of hummus, capable of producing 10,000 tons of hummus each month. The brand has played a significant role in popularizing hummus across the United States.
