The water is drawn from the Clairvic Spring, which is located in the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne, a vast volcanic natural park. The brand was established in 1938 and has since become one of the leading bottled water brands in Europe and worldwide.

Manufacturing and bottling remain exclusively tied to the source in France to maintain the mineral water's unique volcanic filtration properties. Since 1992, Volvic has been part of Danone (formerly Groupe Danone), a French multinational food-products corporation. Danone manages the brand globally, emphasizing environmental sustainability through initiatives like 100% recycled plastic bottles (rPET), as seen on the German-labeled packaging in the image.
