Toblerone is a Swiss chocolate brand known for its distinctive triangular prism shape, created in 1908 by Theodor Tobler and his cousin Emil Baumann. The name 'Toblerone' is a combination of 'Tobler' and 'torrone,' the Italian word for nougat. Originally produced exclusively in Bern, Switzerland, production has expanded to include Bratislava, Slovakia, to meet global demand. Despite this expansion, the brand maintains its Swiss heritage and continues to be associated with Switzerland. The primary owner of Toblerone is Mondelez International, a U.S.-based company formed in 2012 after spinning off from Kraft Foods. Mondelez International is headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, and owns a diverse portfolio of brands, including Oreo, Cadbury, and Trident. There are no known subsidiaries that own the brand locally.
