Toblerone is a globally recognized chocolate brand famous for its unique triangular peaks, intended to represent the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps. Created in 1908 by Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann in Bern, Switzerland, the chocolate is a distinct blend of milk chocolate, honey, and almond nougat.
Historically, all Toblerone was produced exclusively in Bern. However, starting in 2023, the brand's owner, Mondelez International, shifted some production to a facility in Bratislava, Slovakia. Due to Swissness laws, this move meant the brand could no longer use 'Swiss Milk Chocolate' or the iconic Matterhorn mountain on its packaging for those specific batches. Today, ownership rests with the American multinational food conglomerate Mondelez International, which ensures its distribution across nearly every global market.
