Fanta Orange Soda

Fanta is one of the world's most iconic beverage brands, with a history that is as vibrant as its orange color. Originally born out of necessity in Germany during the 1940s, the brand was created as a substitute for Coca-Cola when trade embargoes restricted the import of key ingredients. While the original German version was made from industrial leftovers like whey and apple pomace, the modern orange-flavored formulation we recognize today was actually perfected in Naples, Italy, in 1955.

Following its official acquisition by The Coca-Cola Company in 1960, Fanta expanded globally, becoming a staple in over 190 countries. Because Fanta is produced through a vast network of local bottling partners, the physical product is manufactured in multiple countries simultaneously, often using local water and sometimes adjusting the recipe—such as using real fruit juice in Europe versus different sweeteners in other regions—to suit local tastes and regulations.

Today, Fanta remains a flagship brand in the global portfolio of The Coca-Cola Company, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. It has evolved into a multi-billion dollar asset known for its playful marketing and extensive variety of over 200 flavors worldwide, though Orange continues to be its most famous and widely consumed variant.
