Qwant is a French search engine launched in February 2013, emphasizing user privacy by not tracking searches or selling personal data. Initially, it relied on Microsoft's Bing for search results but has since developed its own indexing technology. In 2024, Qwant partnered with Ecosia to create the European Search Index, aiming to reduce dependence on major tech companies. The company is primarily owned by Synfonium, a French entity co-owned by Miroslaw and Octave Klaba (75%) and Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (25%).
