Espresso House Coffee

Espresso House is the leading coffeehouse chain in the Nordic region. It was founded in 1996 by the couple Charles and Elisabet Asker in Lund, Sweden. What started as a single location quickly expanded, first throughout southern Sweden and later into Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Germany. The brand is known for its cozy, "living room" atmosphere and its commitment to specialty coffee.

Most of the chain's coffee is sourced globally and roasted at their own state-of-the-art facility, Johan & Nyström, located in Länna just outside Stockholm, Sweden. Similarly, the pastries and bread served in their cafes are baked centrally at the Espresso House Bakery in Malmö to ensure consistent quality across all locations.

Since 2015, the brand has been owned by the JAB Holding Company, a German-owned investment giant that also holds other major coffee brands like Peet's Coffee and Keurig Dr Pepper. In Denmark, the chain saw significant growth in 2016 when the previously well-known Baresso Coffee chain was acquired and converted into Espresso House outlets.
