TUC is a brand of salted octagonal crackers, comparable in taste to Ritz crackers. The brand originated in Belgium in 1958 when Louis Parein, owner of a small confectionery company, traveled to the U.S. to learn about producing salty biscuits called 'crackers'. Upon returning to Belgium, he decided to name his new product 'TUC' after seeing the initials 'T.U.C.' in a newspaper, which stood for 'Trade Union Corporation'. The brand was later acquired by the French company LU, which is now part of Mondelez International. TUC crackers are produced in multiple countries, including Belgium, Italy, and Pakistan, and are marketed in over 50 countries worldwide.
