Staropramen Premium Lager

Staropramen is the second largest brewery in the Czech Republic, with a history dating back to its founding in 1869 in the Smíchov district of Prague. The brand was established by Jan Kohout and Vilem Pick, who utilized traditional Saaz hops and Bohemian barley to create a premium lager that would eventually become an icon of Czech brewing culture worldwide.

Over the decades, Staropramen evolved from a local favorite into a global export brand. While the heart of production remains at the historic Smíchov brewery in Prague, the brand has undergone significant changes in ownership during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. After being part of the InBev portfolio for several years, it was eventually acquired by the North American brewing giant Molson Coors Brewing Company.

Today, Staropramen is a key international brand for Molson Coors. While much of the beer sold in Europe is still brewed and bottled in Prague, the company also utilizes licensed manufacturing and local distribution hubs across its global network to maintain supply in over 38 countries. Despite these corporate shifts, Staropramen maintains its heritage as a quintessential 'Prague' beer, characterized by its balanced taste and traditional brewing methods.
