Staropramen is a world-renowned Czech lager with a heritage dating back to 1869. Founded in the Smíchov district of Prague, the brewery was established to meet the growing demand for quality beer in the expanding industrial suburbs. The name Staropramen, which translates to "old spring," was officially registered in 1911 and has since become a global symbol of the Prague brewing tradition.
The product is primarily manufactured in the Czech Republic at the original Staropramen Brewery in Prague, which remains the second-largest brewery in the country. While the brand is exported to over 37 countries, including Sweden and the UK, it maintains its authentic brewing process using premium Czech hops and barley to ensure its signature balanced taste.
Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major brewing conglomerates over the decades. Since 2012, Staropramen has been owned by Molson Coors Beverage Company, a multinational brewing giant headquartered in the United States and Canada. Under Molson Coors, the brand continues to expand its international presence while emphasizing its historical roots in Prague.
