Hendrick's Gin is a premium distilled spirit known for its distinctive infusion of cucumber and rose petals. It was launched in 1999 by the independent, family-owned distiller William Grant & Sons. The gin is produced at the Girvan distillery in Ayrshire, Scotland, using a unique combination of two different types of stills: a Bennett still, which produces a rich, floral spirit, and a Carter-Head still, which yields a lighter, more delicate botanical distillate.
The brand's origin is rooted in the creative vision of Lesley Gracie, the Master Distiller who developed the recipe. Despite the Victorian-style branding and the 1886 date on the label (which refers to the founding year of William Grant & Sons), the Hendrick's brand itself is a modern success story. It remains under the ownership of William Grant & Sons, ensuring that it stays independent from the major global beverage conglomerates that dominate the industry.
