Weber is an iconic American brand that revolutionized outdoor cooking in the 1950s. The brand's history began in 1951 when George Stephen Sr., a metalworker at Weber Brothers Metal Works in Chicago, invented the classic kettle grill by cutting a buoy in half to create a dome-shaped cooker with a lid. This innovative design allowed for better heat control and protection from the elements, sparking a global grilling culture.

While Weber remains headquartered in Palatine, Illinois, its manufacturing footprint has expanded to meet global demand. Today, many of its high-end charcoal grills and larger gas series (like the Summit and some Genesis models) are still manufactured or assembled in Huntley, Illinois, using a mix of domestic and globally sourced components. However, entry-level and portable lines, such as the Spirit and Go-Anywhere series, are primarily manufactured in China.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned from the founding Stephen family to private equity via BDT Capital Partners. In a major strategic move in May 2025, Weber completed a business combination with Blackstone Products to form Weber Blackstone. This new parent entity unites two leaders in the outdoor cooking industry, with the group's headquarters split between Illinois and Utah under the leadership of CEO Roger Dahle.
